Fuelling Ambition

Promoting inclusive entrepreneurship

The Vision: What if everyone had an equal chance of thriving as an entrepreneur?
Entrepreneurs face many challenges in business life. These challenges are even greater for female entrepreneurs. With various barriers including access to finance and reliable business advice networks. In fact, everyone loses out because female entrepreneurs, if properly represented in the economy would have the potential to add £180bn to the UK economy.
In order to try to redress the imbalance, Newable launched the Fuelling Ambition programme covering all stages of the entrepreneurial journey from inspiration to investment. Breaking the barriers along the way. It included tailored 1-2-1 support from business mentors, fully funded support from specialist Innovation Advisors as well as free expertise from International Trade Advisers from the Department of International Trade.  A series of free workshops addressed specific topics that research indicated female entrepreneurs found particularly challenging.
The centre piece of the programme was an event held at the Barbican attended by 500 entrepreneurs hosted by June Sarpong and featuring key note speakers from the like of Holly Tucker, founder of notonthehighstreet.com. The programme concluded with investment training and investor pitch events.
The Reality: We may not have solved the problem, but we were able to put a dent in it. By committing to a "pay it forward" programme, Newable was also able to generate considerable positive PR and improve its corporate reputation.
